The Snickerdoodle Swap
A vault favorite hiding inside this box: swap the frostings between Set A (Birthday Cake) and Set C (Whoopie Cookies), and you get a snickerdoodle. Here is the trade:
Totally optional, every mix works exactly as labeled if you would rather keep it simple.
Tips from the Sift kitchen
A. When making cake layers, freeze them right after baking. Firm, frozen layers are so much easier to decorate.
B. The longer you whip your buttercream frosting, the fluffier it becomes.
C. Use an ice cream scoop to make uniform size cupcakes.
D. Level off the top of each cake round if you plan to make even layers.
Flavor specific tips
1. Birthday Cake (Set A): For something special, add a layer of raspberry jam with the vanilla buttercream between the cake layers.
2. French 75 Cake (Set B): Use 2 tablespoons of lemon juice plus a little zest in place of 2 tablespoons of water in the cake mix.
3. Whoopie Cookies (Set C): Freeze the filled cookies for a couple of hours to build extra moisture. Seal them in a ziploc bag or plastic wrap before freezing. Whoopie cookies are delicious cold or at room temperature, but skip serving them frozen.
